stopped by the closeing of our friend Case Conover's show at Mama Buzz Cafe in Oakland. It was called "EARTHEART" and included some rad drawings and stamp paintings-or prints if you'd rather call them that. It was visually awesome and a great fit for the space of the always cool Mama Buzz.

last night was the ever changing "Divasadero Art Walk" and your last chance to see all of "CAVE BRAINS" in its whole form. if you missed it go watch "The Watchmen" instead and think about caves.

Ideology represents the imaginary relationship of individuals to their real conditions of existence
So sick of ideology, ARENâT WE? Bagger Vance promises a world sans thought (read ideological motivation) in exchange for what is, deceptively, anti-idea. Faux populism replaces class struggle, the inside replaces the outside of Self conception, and the idea is usurped by the moment. Thought, being decisively non-action, is, and is nothing else, IN THE WAY. Ideology, then, is understood as anti-moment; the thought is concluded to be NON-ACTIVE. This makes sense, given the popular conception of ideology as SOMETHING COERCIVE in nature, rather than SOMETHING THOUGHT. Ideology, miles removed from its originary critical function, is no more than a synonym for propagandized thought process. However, understood in ITS OWN TERMS, ideology is RESISTANCE. Resistance to what? Ideology. As if structure of thought is, in practice (oh but not theory), replaceable. SO, Replaced by what? NON THOUGHT. The removal of ideology, both as a critical term and as a mental process, purposes to do nothing more than remove PERSONAL THOUGHT altogether. So, then, what of contemporary ideology, or, better yet, the pursuit of a PERSONAL IDEOLOGY. It is dismissed, first hand, by a submissive sense of self in excahnge for a non-threatening âYOUâ worth little more than a Reaganite conception of nation. And what happens to those that purposefully define themselves as ideological, as having a conception of good outside of popular political motifs? They are understood as simply IDEOLOGICAL, a term contemporarily used as both Self-defining and Other-condemning.
And THEN WE SEEM SOME BRUSH STROKES. And THEN WE SEE SOME COLOR. And FINALLY we see a reinterpretation of ideology, not as a method of thought, but as a methodological approach to thought. One where, by jove, the Other isnât fecal. And one where, good god, Self isnât sacrilege. Christ, we may even see an IDEOLOGY OF IDEAS. But hold on, the liberals arenât ready. Well
